| Don't honk at the elephants |
|
That's the warning officials in Malaysia are giving drivers now that elephants are straying onto one of the country's main highways. Authorities say blowing horns in an effort to get the animals to move could actually agitate the elephants and cause them to go on a rampage. The caution comes after a motorist claimed to have been chased by a herd of elephants that had been blocking part of the East-West highway. Authorities say it's safer for drivers to stop their vehicles and wait until the elephants go back into jungle. Officials are also putting up roadside signs warning Malaysian motorists to watch out for pachyderms, especially at night. |
