The Museum's objectives are to gather, preserve and display materials as well as to provide information which are connected with fishing and the fishing industry. It also hopes to create awareness and generate interest in the fishing heritage. The museum, eventually hopes to be a prime tourist destination to tourists visiting Desaru. Various artifacts employed by fishermen during their course of activities are displayed in the museum. The artifacts include glass bouy, ship's lamp and masthead, sea tackles, fishing traps and attractive wood carved containers. |

The Fisherman Museum at Tanjung Balau Fishing village was established in 1985 by South East Johor Development Authority (KEJORA) to add to the visitor's enrichment programme on lifestyles, arts and skills of the Malay fishermen.
