In the state of Pahang, just less than 50 km north of Kuantan is Cherating. Here, wide gently sloping sandy beaches extend as far as the eye can see, and like a mirage seem to disapear in a mist of sea spray. Cherating is the perfect antidote to frantic city life.

It was here, at Cherating, that Club Mediteranee, enamoured by the sparkling seas, pristine beaches and cool breezes decided to undertake its first Asian venture. Many other resorts also provide a range of recreational programmes.

Cherating was first discovered by backpackers who stayed at guesthouses and wooden huts among the coconut groves by the sea.
